Other Donation Opportunities

Special recognition is given to club members named with a donation to the Book of Recognition. These donations are applied to the operating budget of GCFP.

Scholarship donations help to fund the 11 GCFP Scholarships awarded annually at our convention. Donations may be given in honor of or in memory of a club member or friend of the GCFP.

Students applying for scholarships must be studying an allied curriculum in the gardening field. Winners of club and state scholarships are eligible to apply for NGC scholarships.

Donations to Penny Pines stay in Pennsylvania and are used for special projects or to reforest areas in the Allegheny National Forest. Penny Pines first began after World War II to help reforest our National Parks and cost at first 68 cents to plant trees on one acre; today that has gone up to $68 an acre.  Many clubs use this program as a permanent memorial for a deceased member.

Sage and Roses is a program introduced by our own Lois Shuster. Instead of buying a greeting card to celebrate a holiday or special occasion, an email message is sent and the money not spent on cards is donated thru this program to help fund new Blue Star Memorial Markers throughout the USA.
